Updates

After four months of silence, I guess a little update is due here. After planning to do few (if any) conferences this year, this might become the most conference-heavy year for me so far. I've just returned from my first ICFA in Orlando, will head to the European/British Association for American Studies conference in London in less than two weeks and a conference on video games and American Studies in Munich later in April. These conferences had been on my schedule for a while. In the last couple of weeks, I've also received acceptance letters for a one-day symposium on Jurassic Park, this year's International Gothic Association conference, and the conference Symbiotic Cinema. Abstracts below. In publication news, I'll contribute a chapter to a volume on extinction narratives, which sounds very intriguing, to say the least. As you'll see, there's a common theme uniting the conference presentations and the essay.

Seems like the new year starts early. Two Routledge volumes I contributed to are out (with a 2018 copyright):

Ecogothic in Nineteenth-Century American Literature, edited by Dawn Keetley and Matthew Wynn Sivils, and

Horror Television in the Age of Consumption: Binging on Fear, edited by Kimberly Jackson and Linda Belau

Make sure you pick up your copies!

Melissa Edmundson Makala (I contributed a chapter to her edited volume The Gothic Tradition in Supernatural: Essays on the Television Series on repetition and difference) and Ruth Heholt (currently working on a piece on The Order 1886 for her co-edited volume The New Urban Gothic) have invited me to contribute a chapter to their forthcoming volume on Gothic Animals. Here's the call for papers, which provides a neat outline of the project. For my abstract, click 'read more'.
